Okuma OSP Alarm C 3711 - Air pressure

Air pressure

The control detected that shop air pressure has dropped below the required level. Depending on the code, it is the main air source, the oil mist unit supply, or the air used to confirm chuck clamping and tailstock hold.

Common Causes

  • Plant air supply pressure dropped or compressor off
  • Air filter/regulator clogged or mis-set
  • Leak in air line, hose, or fitting
  • Pressure switch (iARW input) faulty or wiring loose

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code None = Main air source pressure has dropped; code 1 = Air source pressure for the oil mist unit is low; code 2 = Pressure dropped in the air circuit confirming chuck clamp and tailstock hold
  2. 2Read the code: no code = main air source low; Code 1 = oil mist unit air low; Code 2 = chuck clamp / tailstock hold confirmation air low.
  3. 3Check the machine's air regulator gauge against the required pressure and restore the supply; verify the compressor and shop header are up.
  4. 4Inspect the filter/regulator for water or clogging and drain or clean it; listen for leaks along the air line to the affected device.
  5. 5For Code 2, check the air lines and fittings at the chuck and tailstock confirmation circuit specifically.
  6. 6If pressure is normal but the alarm persists, monitor I/O check NO.24 INPUT bit 5 (iARW); if it stays OFF with good pressure, check the pressure switch and its wiring before replacing it.
