A coolant level switch has reported a low or overflow condition for longer than the monitor time (typically 1 second). Depending on the code, this can be the machine tank, additional tank, conveyor/separator tank, high-pressure unit, or an oil mist reservoir.

Coolant level
A coolant level switch has reported a low or overflow condition for longer than the monitor time (typically 1 second). Depending on the code, this can be the machine tank, additional tank, conveyor/separator tank, high-pressure unit, or an oil mist reservoir.
Common Causes
Coolant genuinely low in the tank (or overfilled for overflow codes)
Float switch stuck, mispositioned, or failed
Clogged coolant filter causing high level in the filter unit (code 36)
High-pressure coolant unit running continuously beyond the parameter-set time (code 6)
Troubleshooting Steps
1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code None = Coolant level low switch iCOL/ (I/O check NO.34 bit 0) OFF for 1s or more; code 1 = Coolant level high switch iCOLOV/ (NO.35 bit E) OFF for 1s or more; code 2 = Coolant lower limit switch iCLLST/ (NO.43 bit A) OFF for 1s or more; code 3 = Coolant overflow switch iCLOF/ (NO.43 bit B) OFF for 1s or more; code 4 = Coolant upper limit switch (I.035F) OFF for 1s or more; code 5 = Coolant lower limit switch (I.035E) OFF for 1s or more; code 6 = High-pressure coolant unit ON signal continued beyond the parameter-set time; code 7 = Coolant level low switch iCOL/ (NO.34 bit 0) ON for 1s or more
2Read the code to identify which switch tripped: e.g. no code = coolant level low switch iCOL/ (I/O check NO.34 bit 0); 1 = high switch iCOLOV/; 3 = overflow switch iCLOF/; 22/23 = R-side/L-side low switches; 25-28 = oil mist oil for A/B turret low or overflown; 36 = filter unit high level.
3Check the actual coolant (or oil mist oil) level in the indicated tank and replenish or drain to the correct level.
4Watch the corresponding input on the I/O check screen (number and bit given in the code) while moving the float by hand; if the input does not change, adjust the float switch position or replace the switch.
5For code 36, replace the clogged coolant filter; if the level is normal but the alarm persists, replace the high-level switch iFCHIL/.
6For code 6, investigate why the high-pressure coolant unit kept sending the ON signal beyond the parameter-set time (stuck command or faulty unit).
7If the alarm returns with correct level and working switches, record the alarm number and code and contact Okuma service.
