Okuma OSP Alarm C 3716 - XA-axis overload

XA-axis overload

The X-axis of the A turret exceeded the overload limit set on its load detection meter relay for longer than the preset period, so the control tripped the axis. Detection is active only during the program blocks bracketed by the M135 (ON) and M134 (OFF) commands.

Common Causes

  • Too-heavy depth of cut or feed in the XA cutting blocks between M135 and M134
  • Dull or broken tool on the A turret driving XA-axis load up
  • XA load detection meter relay limit set too low
  • Mechanical drag on the XA axis from chips or lost way lubrication

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Find the program section between M135 and M134 running when the alarm occurred and note the active cut on the A turret.
  2. 2Reduce depth of cut or feedrate in those blocks to lower the XA-axis load.
  3. 3Inspect the A-turret tool for wear or breakage and replace it if necessary.
  4. 4Clear chips from the XA axis ways and covers and verify the way lubrication system is delivering oil.
  5. 5If the cutting conditions are reasonable, verify the trip setting on the XA load detection meter relay on the operation panel before rerunning.
