Okuma OSP Alarm C 3717 - XB-axis overload

XB-axis overload

The X-axis of the B turret stayed above the overload limit set on its load detection meter relay longer than the preset time, tripping the axis to protect the drive. Overload detection is performed only in the program blocks between the M135 (ON) and M134 (OFF) commands.

Common Causes

  • Depth of cut or feedrate too aggressive in the XB cutting blocks between M135 and M134
  • Worn or damaged tool on the B turret increasing XB-axis load
  • XB load detection meter relay limit set too low for the job
  • Mechanical resistance on the XB axis from chip packing or poor lubrication

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Identify the program blocks between M135 and M134 executing at the time of the alarm and the cut being made with the B turret.
  2. 2Reduce the depth of cut or feedrate in that section so the XB-axis load stays under the relay limit.
  3. 3Check the B-turret tool used in those blocks for wear or damage and replace if dull.
  4. 4Inspect the XB slideways for packed chips and confirm way lubrication is functioning.
  5. 5If the cut is within reason, check the trip setting on the XB load detection meter relay on the operation panel before restarting.
