Okuma OSP Alarm C 3715 - ZB-axis overload

ZB-axis overload

The Z-axis of the B turret exceeded the overload limit set on its load detection meter relay for longer than the preset time, tripping the axis to protect the drive and ballscrew. Overload detection applies only to program blocks executed between the M135 (ON) and M134 (OFF) commands.

Common Causes

  • Excessive depth of cut or feed in the ZB cutting blocks between M135 and M134
  • Worn or damaged tool on the B turret raising ZB-axis load
  • ZB load detection meter relay limit set too low for the operation
  • Mechanical resistance on the ZB axis such as chip buildup or poor way lubrication

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Locate the program blocks between M135 and M134 that were executing when the alarm tripped and identify the active cut on the B turret.
  2. 2Reduce depth of cut or feedrate in that section to bring the ZB-axis load below the relay limit.
  3. 3Check the B-turret tool used in those blocks for wear or damage and replace if needed.
  4. 4Inspect the ZB slideways and covers for packed chips and confirm way lubrication is working.
  5. 5If the cut is reasonable, check the trip setting on the ZB load detection meter relay on the operation panel before restarting.
