Okuma OSP Alarm C 3703 - Oil filter

Oil filter

The filter in the hydraulic unit's oil controller has clogged enough to trip its pressure switch, and the switch stayed actuated for more than 2 seconds (monitored at slave station 13, strobe 4 bit 7). The control raises this alarm to warn that oil cooling/conditioning is compromised before the hydraulics or spindle oil overheat.

Common Causes

  • Genuinely clogged oil controller filter from contaminated oil
  • Cooling fan motor on the oil controller stopped, raising pressure/temperature across the filter
  • Soiled fan motor or fan motor failure

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = The oil controller filter clogging pressure switch stayed actuated for more than 2 seconds.
  2. 2Locate the oil controller on the hydraulic unit and check its filter clogging indicator/pressure switch; a tripped indicator confirms a real clog.
  3. 3Clean the oil controller filter as the manual directs; if the element is damaged or clogs again quickly, replace it and check the oil for contamination.
  4. 4Check whether the oil controller's fan motor is running; a stopped fan lets pressure and temperature build and can hold the pressure switch actuated.
  5. 5If the fan is stopped, clean a soiled fan motor and guard; if it still will not run, replace the fan motor.
  6. 6If the filter is clean and the fan runs but the alarm persists, verify the pressure switch input at slave station 13 (strobe 4, bit 7) changes state - a stuck switch or wiring fault will hold the alarm.
