Okuma OSP Alarm B 2177 - MCS Servo data error

MCS Servo data error

Servo data the NC sent to the inverter for initialization or running does not match what that inverter unit can accept. It typically appears right after an inverter unit was swapped (wrong servo data file for the new unit) or after servo data was edited incorrectly. The object shows the affected axis, or none for the spindle.

Common Causes

  • Servo data file does not match the installed inverter unit (common after a unit replacement)
  • Servo data was changed incorrectly during adjustment
  • Inverter unit not compatible with the installed NC software version
  • Faulty inverter unit control board or an NC software problem

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code XXXX = Data ID number of the servo data item that caused the error.; code YY = Data set number of the servo data item that caused the error.; code ZZ=1 = The data value is outside its allowable setting range.; code ZZ=2 = The data was set with incorrect timing.; code ZZ=3 = The data was never transmitted.; code ZZ=4 = A calculation error occurred in the data.; code ZZ=5 = An error other than the above occurred.
  2. 2Establish when it started: if it appeared right after an inverter unit was replaced, the loaded servo data file almost certainly does not match the new unit.
  3. 3Record the full code: XXXX is the offending data ID, YY the data set number, and ZZ the error type (1 out of range, 2 wrong timing, 3 no transmission, 4 calculation error, 5 other).
  4. 4If the alarm followed a servo data adjustment, restore the previous known-good servo data from backup and confirm the alarm clears.
  5. 5If the alarm followed an inverter swap, load the servo data file that matches the replacement unit's model and rating.
  6. 6Verify the inverter unit is compatible with the machine's NC software level before assuming a hardware failure.
  7. 7If correct data and compatibility are confirmed but the error persists, suspect the inverter control board or NC software; record the alarm number, object, and full code and contact Okuma service.
