Okuma OSP Alarm B 2477 - Sub-spindle mode

Sub-spindle mode

On a sub-spindle machine the spindle mode was changed under an illegal condition, such as during C-axis connection control, in flat turning mode, or with an invalid G140/G141/G142 combination between the A and B turret sides. The code pinpoints the exact illegal mode change.

Common Causes

  • Program designates a G-code other than G140 on the A-turret (G13) side while in G142 mode with a pickoff spindle
  • Spindle mode switched during C-axis control mode or flat turning mode
  • G141 designated on the B turret of a sub-spindle machine
  • LT-model sequence restart or M02/M100 timing conflict between saddles
  • G140/G141 commanded during tool retraction interruption mode or in tailstock mode

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = With pickoff spindle, a G-code other than G140 designated on the G13 (A-turret) side in G142 mode.; code 2 = Spindle mode switched during C-axis control mode.; code 3 = Spindle mode switched during flat turning mode.; code 4 = G141 designated on the B turret of a sub-spindle machine.; code 5 = LT model: sequence restart of the spindle designated in the other spindle operation mode.; code 6 = LT model: M02 or spindle mode change conflict between the two saddles.; code 7 = LT machine: M100 received under a spindle mode change synchronous wait.; code 8 = G141 designated in Y-axis mode on a Y-axis machine.
  2. 2Read the code to identify the exact violation: 1 wrong G-code in G142 mode; 2 mode switched in C-axis control; 3 mode switched in flat turning; 4 G141 on the B turret; 5-7 LT-model restart/M02/M100 conflicts; 8 G141 in Y-axis mode; 11 spindle mode exchange on X-axis mirror image; 13 G140/G141 in tool retraction interruption; 14 G141 in tailstock mode.
  3. 3Compare the failing block against the manual's program examples, e.g. commanding M84 in G142 mode or commanding G141 after G110 on the G13 side, and restructure the mode sequence the same way.
  4. 4For code 2 or 3, cancel C-axis control mode or flat turning mode before switching spindle mode.
  5. 5For codes 4, 8 or 14, remove the G141 command from the B-turret, Y-axis mode or tailstock mode context where it is not allowed.
  6. 6Correct the NC part program and re-run the spindle mode change section in single block to confirm the new sequence is accepted.
