Okuma OSP Alarm B 2175 - MCS Servo link disconnection

MCS Servo link disconnection

The servo link between the NC and the servo units is disconnected, so the servo unit for the axis or spindle in the alarm object can no longer receive commands from the NC. Motion on that axis is impossible until the link is restored.

Common Causes

  • Servo link cable or connector fault between units
  • Inverter unit control board failure
  • FCP board failure
  • A servo unit powered down or disconnected mid-chain

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code XXXX=0 = Servo link disconnected right in front of the problem unit.; code XXXX=8000 = Servo link disconnected before the problem unit.; code YYYY = Servo link error status at the time of error detection.
  2. 2Read the code: XXXX shows the disconnected position (0 means the link broke right in front of the problem unit, 8000 means it broke before the problem unit) and YYYY is the servo link error status at detection.
  3. 3Using the disconnected position, find the unit at the break point and inspect the servo link cables and connectors on both sides of it for bent pins, damage or looseness; reseat them firmly.
  4. 4Check that every servo unit in the chain is powered; a unit that lost power opens the link for everything downstream.
  5. 5Swap the suspect servo link cable with a known-good cable to rule out wiring before condemning boards.
  6. 6If the cable and power are good, the inverter unit control board or the FCP board is suspect; have them checked or exchanged, then cycle power and confirm all axes come online.
