KUKA Robot KRC0340 - ACKN. SBXHPU DEPOSITED INPUT

ACKN. SBXHPU DEPOSITED INPUT

The SafeOperation box (SBXHPU) has detected a malfunction in its input unit, specifically in the permanently installed safety input circuitry. This fault compromises the safety integrity of the input validation and may prevent proper safety chain operation.

Common Causes

  • Degraded or failed solid-state relay within the SBXHPU input module due to age
  • Excessive voltage surge damaging the input protection circuitry despite surge protection
  • Water ingress or condensation inside the SBXHPU causing electrical shorts in the input stage
  • Loose terminal connections allowing intermittent contact on safety input signals
  • Software checksum failure in the SBXHPU safety processor indicating internal memory corruption

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Isolate the robot system from operation and place it in a safe state immediately
  2. 2Inspect the SBXHPU enclosure for visible signs of moisture, corrosion, or physical damage to connector pins
  3. 3Verify all input signal wiring is properly terminated and tightened to the correct torque specification
  4. 4Test each input signal independently using a multimeter to confirm correct voltage levels reaching the SBXHPU
  5. 5Consult the SBXHPU diagnostics display or connect to WorkVisual to read the specific input fault code
  6. 6The SBXHPU safety module must be replaced by an authorized KUKA service technician to restore safety integrity
