KUKA Robot KRC0005 - KCP Malfunction

KCP Malfunction

KCP (KUKA Control Panel) malfunction indicates hardware failure within the smartPAD or teach pendant unit. Robot motion is immediately halted and all command execution is blocked since the control interface is non-functional.

Common Causes

  • Internal KCP processor failure or microcontroller defect
  • Corrupted firmware in the KCP boot ROM or application memory
  • Failed capacitor or power supply component on KCP circuit board
  • Damaged touchscreen panel or input sensor malfunction
  • Loss of communication bus between KCP and KRC4 main controller

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify KCP power supply connection and check for correct voltage at KCP connector
  2. 2Perform KCP firmware version check through diagnostic port if accessible
  3. 3Attempt KCP restart by disconnecting power cable for 30 seconds then reconnecting
  4. 4Test KCP communication by connecting to KRC4 via network interface cable
  5. 5If available, boot KCP in safe mode diagnostic to isolate hardware versus software fault
  6. 6Replace KCP unit with qualified spare and recalibrate touchscreen calibration parameters
