KUKA Robot KRC0010 - Error Digital Outputs

Error Digital Outputs

A short circuit condition has been detected on the digital output module, affecting either outputs 1-8 or outputs 9-16 of the KRC4 controller. The robot immediately stops all motion and disables output commands to prevent equipment damage, controller damage, or safety hazards from uncontrolled output activation.

Common Causes

  • External load wiring with reversed polarity or crossed connections causing direct short across output terminals
  • Damaged output module card with internal PCB trace damage or component failure creating short paths
  • Faulty external relay or solenoid coil connected to the output with internal short circuit condition
  • Accumulated moisture or contamination inside the controller enclosure bridging output circuit traces or connectors
  • Broken insulation on output wiring or crimped connectors touching conductive surfaces or adjacent wires

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Turn off main power to the robot system immediately and visually inspect all external output wiring for damaged insulation, pinched cables, or reversed connections
  2. 2Disconnect all external loads from the affected digital output group and perform a power cycle to determine if the short is internal or external
  3. 3Use a multimeter in ohm mode to test continuity between each output terminal and ground, checking for abnormal resistance values below 1 kilohm
  4. 4Inspect the output module connector pins inside the KRC4 enclosure for bent pins, corrosion, or visible moisture and clean with isopropyl alcohol if needed
  5. 5Reconnect external loads one at a time while monitoring the alarm status to isolate which device is causing the short circuit
  6. 6If the alarm persists with all external loads disconnected, the output module card must be replaced by trained KUKA service technician following SafeOperation lockout procedures
