KUKA Robot KRC0013 - Error Safety Loop

Error Safety Loop

The safety controller has detected an open circuit or fault condition in the dual-channel safety loop wiring that monitors Emergency Stop buttons, safety gates, and protective devices. The KRC4 safety PLC (Safety-LBR or FSoE) has identified a mismatch between redundant safety inputs or a break in continuity. All drives are immediately disabled and brakes engage.

Common Causes

  • Broken wire or loose terminal connection in X11 safety connector pins for dual-channel emergency stop circuit
  • Faulty safety relay (K1 or K2 on MFC card) not providing mirrored feedback signal to safety PLC inputs
  • Mismatch between safe inputs A1/A2 channels due to different timing or one channel stuck in previous state
  • Defective operator safety switch or gate interlock with worn contacts causing intermittent open circuit condition
  • Safety configuration mismatch in Safety.XML where physical wiring does not match defined safety function logic

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Step 1: Check if external Emergency Stop buttons are mechanically latched and release all E-Stop devices in the cell
  2. 2Step 2: Measure voltage at X11 connector pins (typically 24V across safety loop) using multimeter to verify circuit continuity when all devices reset
  3. 3Step 3: Navigate to Diagnosis -> Safety -> Safety inputs on smartPAD to view real-time status of each dual-channel input pair
  4. 4Step 4: Inspect all cable connections in safety chain including X11, external safety relays, and gate switches for loose crimps or damaged insulation
  5. 5Step 5: In WorkVisual open the Safety configuration and perform Activate Safety Monitoring test to identify which specific input pair shows discrepancy
  6. 6Step 6: Replace suspected faulty safety relay or interlock switch and perform complete SafeOperation acceptance test with dual-channel verification before production release
