Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Press SYSTEM > PROGRAM, select the protected program and verify if '****' asterisks or lock symbol appears next to program number indicating protection status.

  2. 2

Check program header for protection code format: O1234(PROTECT) or O1234(****). If present, this designates write protection at program level.

  3. 3

Navigate to EDIT mode, input program number, press ALTER key then input G10 L50 P1 R0; to remove protection (if parameter 3202#0 PWE=1 allows this operation). R1 re-enables protection.

G10 L50 write protection removal only works if system parameters permit program editing. Backup program before attempting removal.

  4. 4

If protection cannot be removed via G10, access SYSTEM > PROGRAM, highlight protected program, press [OPRT] softkey then [PROTECT] softkey to toggle protection OFF if parameters allow operator access.
