Safety

  • Tool may be worn
  • Quality may be affected

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Access tool life data: Press OFFSET/SETTING softkey, then select TOOL LIFE MGMT or press SYSTEM > T-LIFE to view the tool life management screen. Identify the tool number generating the alarm.

  2. 2

Check the current count versus life limit for the alarmed tool. Verify columns for LIFE (limit value), COUNT (current usage), and STATUS. If COUNT equals or exceeds LIFE, the tool requires replacement or reset.

  3. 3

Replace the physical tool with a new one or reconditioned tool, then reset the tool life counter to zero by cursor positioning to the alarmed tool and pressing RESET softkey or entering 0 in the COUNT field.

Ensure the tool is physically replaced before resetting the counter to prevent using worn tooling.

  4. 4

Clear the alarm by pressing RESET button, then verify tool life management is active by checking parameters P6800#0 (TLM: Tool Life Management enable) = 1 and P6805 (life count type: 0=count, 1=time). Resume operation and monitor.
