Fanuc Alarm PS0201 - Rigid Tapping Feedrate Not Set
Alarm PS0201 occurs when a rigid tapping cycle (G84 or G74) is executed without a proper F code (feedrate) programmed, or the feedrate/spindle speed relationship is incorrect. The CNC cannot calculate the required synchronization between spindle rotation and Z-axis feed for rigid tapping operations.
Fanuc Alarm PS0201 - Rigid Tapping Feedrate Not Set
Rigid Tap Feedrate Error
Fanuc PS0201: Rigid Tap Feedrate Error. The rigid tapping cycle has detected an error in the feed rate or axis movement. Rigid tapping requires exact coordination between spindle rotation and Z-axis feed.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm PS0201 occurs when a rigid tapping cycle (G84 or G74) is executed without a proper F code (feedrate) programmed, or the feedrate/spindle speed relationship is incorrect. The CNC cannot calculate the required synchronization between spindle rotation and Z-axis feed for rigid tapping operations.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Review the NC program at the alarm occurrence line. Verify G84 or G74 block contains an F code with non-zero value. Format should be: G84 Z__ R__ F__ (with S__ active).
Check if feedrate was cancelled by previous G80 or other modal command. Ensure F code is programmed in or before the tapping cycle block.
Verify parameter 5200 (Rigid Tap Mode) bit settings: bit 0 enables rigid tapping function. Navigate to SYSTEM > PARAM > search [5200] and confirm bit 0 = 1.
Recalculate feedrate: F = Thread Pitch × Spindle Speed (RPM). For M6×1.0 thread at S1000: F should equal 1000 mm/min. Modify program with correct F value and re-execute.
