Fanuc Alarm PS024 - Canned Cycle Parameter Error

Canned Cycle Error

Fanuc PS024: CANNED CYCLE ERROR. An error was detected in the canned cycle command (G73, G74, G76, G80-G89). The canned cycle parameters or axis specification is incorrect.

Root Cause Summary

PS024 alarm occurs when a canned cycle (G73, G74, G76, G80-G89) is executed with missing, conflicting, or out-of-range address parameters. The Fanuc control detects invalid Q, R, P, or axis position values that violate canned cycle syntax rules defined in parameters 5101-5109 and 5114-5149.

Safety

  • Verify cycle parameters before running

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Review the program block at alarm occurrence. Verify G73/G74/G76/G81-G89 contains all mandatory addresses: R (retract plane), Z (final depth), and F (feedrate). For G83/G73 ensure Q (peck depth) is specified.

  2. 2

Check SYSTEM > PARAM > 5107 bit 0 (RPC). When set to 1, R-point must be specified in every canned cycle block. If set to 0, R is modal. Verify program syntax matches this setting.

  3. 3

Verify Q-value is positive and non-zero for peck drilling cycles. Check parameter 5114 (minimum peck increment) - Q must be greater than this value if set.

  4. 4

Confirm R-plane value is positioned correctly relative to Z-depth based on drilling direction. In G98/G99 mode, ensure initial Z-position, R-point, and final Z create valid geometry per parameter 5101 (drilling axis selection).
