Fanuc Alarm PS030 - Invalid Offset Number

ILLEGAL OFFSET NUMBER

Fanuc alarm PS030: ILLEGAL OFFSET NUMBER. The part program or machine configuration has an error related to this alarm condition. Review the block indicated in the alarm screen and correct the command per the Fanuc programming manual.

Root Cause Summary

PS030 occurs when the part program references a work offset (G54-G59, G54.1 P~) or tool offset number that exceeds the maximum configured in the system parameters. This is typically caused by programming error, incorrect parameter configuration for offset memory allocation, or attempting to use extended offsets without proper enablement.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Review the part program line where PS030 triggered. Identify the offset number specified (e.g., G54.1 P125, H99, D150).

  2. 2

Navigate to OFFSET/SETTING > SETTING screen. Check current parameter 5001 (number of work zero offsets) and parameters 5003/5004 (number of tool offsets). For extended work offsets, verify parameter 5004 bits configure G54.1 P~ range.

  3. 3

Access SYSTEM > PARAM and verify parameter 5001 (work offset quantity, typical range 6-300), parameter 5003 (geometry offset count), and parameter 5004 (wear offset count). For 0i/30i/31i/32i series, check parameter 6300#0-#2 for extended offset configuration.

  4. 4

Either modify the program to use valid offset numbers within the configured range, or increase parameter 5001/5003/5004 values if additional offsets are needed and memory allows. Power cycle required after parameter change.

Increasing offset memory parameters may require additional memory option or license key (G54.1 extended offsets typically require option/license verification in SYSTEM > PARAM > 8131-8136)
