Fanuc Alarm PS035 - Cutter Compensation Move Error
Alarm PS035 occurs when the CNC cannot calculate a valid tool center path during G41/G42 cutter compensation execution. This typically results from programmed moves that are too small relative to the tool radius, zero-length moves, acute angle violations, or improper entry/exit sequences that create interference conditions where the compensation vector is undefined or produces an invalid tool path.

CAN NOT COMMANDED G31
Fanuc alarm PS035: CAN NOT COMMANDED G31. The part program or machine configuration has an error related to this alarm condition. Review the block indicated in the alarm screen and correct the command per the Fanuc programming manual.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm PS035 occurs when the CNC cannot calculate a valid tool center path during G41/G42 cutter compensation execution. This typically results from programmed moves that are too small relative to the tool radius, zero-length moves, acute angle violations, or improper entry/exit sequences that create interference conditions where the compensation vector is undefined or produces an invalid tool path.

Causes and Fixes
Navigate to OFFSET/SETTING > GEOMETRY or OFFSET screen and verify the tool geometry offset number called in the G41/G42 block. Check that the radius value is appropriate for the programmed path dimensions.
Review the part program at the alarm line. Measure the linear distance of the move segment causing PS035. Confirm tool radius is at least 10-20% smaller than the smallest programmed move or arc radius in the compensation section.
Check Parameter 5004 (G40 cancel check) and Parameter 5006 (interference check level). Setting 5006 bit 0=1 enables strict interference checking. Temporarily set bit 0=0 to allow marginal conditions if appropriate for your application.
Disabling interference checking (Parameter 5006 bit 0) may allow tool gouging conditions. Use only after verifying toolpath is acceptable.
Modify part program to increase move distances, reduce tool radius offset value, or insert intermediate points to create longer segments that accommodate the compensation vector calculation.
