Fanuc Alarm PS011 - Missing Feed Rate

FEED ZERO (COMMAND)

Fanuc alarm PS011: FEED ZERO (COMMAND). The part program or machine configuration has an error related to this alarm condition. Review the block indicated in the alarm screen and correct the command per the Fanuc programming manual.

Root Cause Summary

PS011 alarm occurs when a G-code program executes a cutting motion (G01, G02, G03) or interpolation command without a valid feedrate (F) value specified in modal memory. The Fanuc control requires an active feedrate before executing linear or circular interpolation moves to prevent unintended machine behavior.

Safety

  • Always specify feed rate for cuts

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Review the G-code program at the alarm line number. Check if G01, G02, or G03 appears without a preceding F command in the current program block or previous blocks since program start or M30 reset.

  2. 2

Verify feedrate range parameters: Check Parameter 1430 (minimum feedrate limit) and Parameter 1432 (maximum feedrate limit). Ensure the F value in program falls within these limits. Out-of-range values may be ignored by the control.

  3. 3

Add appropriate F command before the cutting move. For metric systems (G21), typical format is F100 for 100mm/min. For inch systems (G20), use F4.0 for 4.0 inches/min. Ensure F is specified in same block or prior blocks.

  4. 4

Check Parameter 0000 bit 0 (F code setting) to verify feedrate units (mm/min, inch/min, or mm/rev). Ensure program F values match the configured units and G98/G99 mode for drilling cycles.
