Fanuc Alarm PS0073 - Maximum Program Count Exceeded
Fanuc PS0073 alarm occurs when the CNC attempts to register a new program but the total program count in memory exceeds the maximum allowable limit defined by system parameters. This limit is controlled by parameter 3107 (maximum program number) and the actual memory capacity allocated for program storage. The alarm prevents further program registration until existing programs are deleted or memory is managed.

Causes and Fixes
Navigate to SYSTEM > PROGRAM > directory screen and press [OPRT] soft key, then [DIR] to display total program count at bottom of screen showing 'USED/TOTAL' programs.
Check parameter 3107 via SYSTEM > PARAM > [ALL] soft key, search parameter 3107 to verify maximum program number setting (typical range 1-9999 depending on control series).
Delete unused programs from memory using EDIT mode: select programs in directory, press [DELETE] soft key, then [EXEC] to free program slots. Verify program count reduces below parameter 3107 limit.
Ensure programs are backed up to external device before deletion. Critical production programs must not be deleted without authorization.
If legitimate need for more programs exists, increase parameter 3107 value after setting parameter write enable (parameter 0000 bit 0 = 1), then power cycle the control to activate new setting.
Increasing parameter 3107 beyond system memory capacity may cause memory allocation errors. Consult machine tool builder specifications for maximum supported program count.
