Fanuc Alarm 910 - SRAM Parity Error

SRAM Parity

Fanuc program alarm 910: SRAM Parity. The part program contains an error or illegal condition that the Fanuc control cannot execute. Correct the program to clear this alarm.

Root Cause Summary

FANUC Alarm 910 SRAM PARITY BYTE 0 indicates a memory integrity failure in the first byte of the Static RAM where CNC parameters, programs, and offsets are stored. This is typically caused by backup battery voltage dropping below 2.7VDC, allowing SRAM corruption, or physical SRAM chip failure on the main CPU board.

Safety

  • Data may be corrupted
  • Restore parameters from backup

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Navigate to SYSTEM > CURRENT screen and check battery voltage display. Voltage should read 3.0VDC or higher. If below 2.9VDC, battery replacement is required immediately.

  2. 2

Power down the CNC completely. Replace the backup battery on the main CPU board (typically located near the CF card slot or under the front panel). Use only FANUC-approved batteries to prevent voltage mismatch.

Before removing old battery, ensure full parameter and program backup is available. SRAM will be lost within 5 minutes of battery removal.

  3. 3

After battery replacement, power on the control. Clear all parameters by setting parameter 0 (Param Write Enable) to 1, then execute emergency clear (hold RESET + DELETE keys simultaneously during power-on on some models, or use SYSTEM > CLEAR menu on 0i-F/31i/32i).

Emergency clear will erase ALL parameters, offsets, programs, and macro variables. Ensure backup data is ready for reload.

  4. 4

Reload all parameters from backup via RS-232, CF card, or USB memory. Reload PMC ladder, tool offsets, work offsets, and part programs. Verify parameter 0 is set back to 0 (write protect) after reload. Cycle power and confirm alarm 910 does not return.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·SRAM hardware failure confirmed
  • ·Multiple recurring alarms after battery replacement
  • ·Power supply replacement required

Prevention

  • Replace backup battery every 5-7 years preventively
  • Maintain regular parameter backups
  • Monitor power supply voltages monthly
  • Ensure proper EMI grounding

Common Mistakes

  • Not backing up parameters before battery replacement
  • Ignoring low battery warnings
  • Replacing battery with power on
  • Using incorrect battery type
