Fanuc Alarm 913 - DRAM PARITY: BYTE 1

SYSTEM ALARM 913

Fanuc alarm 913: SYSTEM ALARM 913. This alarm indicates a fault condition detected by the Fanuc control. Refer to the alarm number and name to identify the specific system or function involved.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 913 DRAM PARITY: BYTE 1 indicates a hardware failure in the main CPU board's dynamic RAM (DRAM) memory chip responsible for byte 1 data storage. This is a critical hardware fault caused by defective DRAM chips, loose board connections, or electrical damage to the main PCB. The parity check circuit has detected data corruption in the memory subsystem.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Power OFF the CNC completely. Wait 30 seconds, then power ON to clear transient memory states and verify if alarm persists immediately after boot.

If alarm reappears immediately on every power cycle, main CPU board replacement is required.

  2. 2

Access SYSTEM > MAINTENANCE > BOARD CHECK screen to view hardware diagnostic results. Record any additional error codes or memory test failures displayed.

  3. 3

Contact Fanuc service for main CPU board replacement. Provide control model (0i-MD, 31i-B5, etc.) and full serial number from SYSTEM > CNC ID screen for correct board identification.

DRAM is soldered to main board - individual chip replacement requires factory-level BGA rework and is not field-serviceable.

  4. 4

Before board replacement, backup all parameters using SYSTEM > PMC > I/O and parameter backup functions. Use CF card or memory card to save ladder, parameters, and macro programs.

All data will be lost during main board replacement - complete system backup is mandatory.

Service Recommendedmedium confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·DRAM replacement required
  • ·CPU board replacement needed
  • ·Persistent alarm after basic checks

Prevention

  • Maintain proper cabinet ventilation and clean air filters regularly
  • Ensure stable power supply voltages
  • Implement proper EMI shielding and grounding practices
  • Perform regular backup of parameters and programs

Common Mistakes

  • Using non-Fanuc DRAM modules
  • Not following proper ESD procedures when handling boards
  • Ignoring power supply voltage tolerances
  • Attempting to repair DRAM modules instead of replacing
