Fanuc Alarm 5138 - FSSB: AXIS SETTING NOT COMPLETE
Alarm 5138 occurs when the FSSB (Fiber Optic Servo Serial Bus) axis configuration parameters do not match the physical amplifier setup or when axis assignment data is incomplete/corrupted. This typically happens after amplifier replacement, parameter initialization, or communication issues between the CNC and FSSB amplifiers.

SYSTEM ALARM 5138
Fanuc alarm 5138: SYSTEM ALARM 5138. This alarm indicates a fault condition detected by the Fanuc control. Refer to the alarm number and name to identify the specific system or function involved.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 5138 occurs when the FSSB (Fiber Optic Servo Serial Bus) axis configuration parameters do not match the physical amplifier setup or when axis assignment data is incomplete/corrupted. This typically happens after amplifier replacement, parameter initialization, or communication issues between the CNC and FSSB amplifiers.
Causes and Fixes
Navigate to SYSTEM > PARAM and check parameter 8000 (FSSB channel configuration) and parameters 8001-8008 (axis assignment for each FSSB channel). Verify each controlled axis has a corresponding FSSB assignment number that matches the amplifier's rotary switch or LCD setting.
Access MAINTENANCE > FSSB SETTING screen and verify the number of axes detected matches the physical amplifier count. Compare displayed axis numbers with parameter 8001-8008 assignments.
If parameters are blank or incorrect, restore from backup or manually configure: Set parameter 8000 bit settings for FSSB channel enable, then assign each axis in parameters 8001-8008 (value = physical amplifier axis number 1-8). Power cycle the control after parameter changes.
WARNING: Parameter changes require power cycle. Ensure parameter write enable (bit 0 of parameter 0000) is set to 1 before editing, then set back to 0 after.
Execute FSSB axis automatic setting from MAINTENANCE > FSSB SETTING menu by selecting AUTO SETTING function. This scans the FSSB network and automatically assigns detected amplifiers to axis parameters.
