Fanuc Alarm 051 - MISSING MOVE AFTER CNR/CHF

MISSING MOVE AFTER CNR/CHF

Fanuc PS051: A chamfering or corner rounding command (CHF/CNR) was programmed but the following block does not contain a linear or circular move. A move command must follow CHF/CNR.

Root Cause Summary

Fanuc Alarm 051 occurs when the actual spindle speed deviates beyond the tolerance defined in spindle parameters from the commanded speed. This typically indicates spindle amplifier issues, encoder feedback problems, excessive mechanical load, or incorrect spindle parameter settings for gain and speed deviation limits.

Safety

  • Cutting quality affected

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Navigate to SYSTEM > PARAM and check Parameter 4020 (spindle speed deviation limit in rpm). Typical values are 100-300 rpm. If set too low, increase incrementally by 50 rpm and test.

  2. 2

Check Parameter 4021 (spindle speed deviation detection time in milliseconds). Typical range is 500-2000ms. Increase if spindle requires more time to reach commanded speed during acceleration.

  3. 3

Navigate to DIAGNOSIS screen and monitor D4030 (spindle speed feedback), D4033 (spindle load meter), and D4034 (spindle motor current) during spindle operation to verify actual speed tracking.

  4. 4

Check Parameter 3740.4 (spindle orientation position coder selection) and Parameter 4001-4002 (spindle gear ratios) to ensure feedback scaling matches actual mechanical configuration.

Incorrect gear ratio parameters will cause constant speed mismatch and repeated alarms

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Spindle encoder replacement needed
  • ·Amplifier hardware failure confirmed
  • ·Parameter corruption suspected

Prevention

  • Regular spindle encoder maintenance
  • Monitor spindle load trends
  • Validate S-codes during program creation
  • Periodic parameter backup

Common Mistakes

  • Ignoring gradual speed response degradation
  • Setting speed error detection too tight
  • Not considering spindle warm-up effects
  • Overlooking mechanical binding issues
