Fanuc Alarm 057 - NO SOLUTION OF BLOCK END

SYSTEM ALARM 57

Fanuc alarm 057: SYSTEM ALARM 57. This alarm indicates a fault condition detected by the Fanuc control. Refer to the alarm number and name to identify the specific system or function involved.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 057 occurs when the CNC cannot calculate a valid endpoint for a programmed block, typically in direct dimension drawing (G90/G91) or radius/chamfer programming. This is caused by geometrically impossible moves, contradictory dimensional constraints, or incorrect combinations of I, J, K arc parameters that result in no mathematical solution for the toolpath endpoint.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Identify the exact block number from the alarm screen (ALARM > displayed block number). Review the G02 or G03 arc command for radius R value and endpoint coordinates X, Y, Z.

  2. 2

Verify the arc geometry: Calculate the distance from start point to endpoint and compare to 2×R. For valid arcs, the straight-line distance between start and end points must be less than or equal to 2×R (diameter). If greater, the arc is geometrically impossible.

  3. 3

If using I, J, K format instead of R, verify the arc center offsets. Check that both the start point and endpoint are equidistant from the calculated center point (start + I,J,K offset). Use PROGRAM > check mode or graphical verification if available.

  4. 4

Correct the program by adjusting either the R value to accommodate the endpoint distance, or modify the endpoint coordinates, or switch from R format to I, J, K format with verified center calculations. Parameter 3450 (arc radius tolerance) can be checked but should not be modified without understanding implications.

Do not arbitrarily increase parameter 3450 tolerance values as this masks programming errors and may cause dimensional inaccuracies

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Parameter corruption suspected
  • ·Repeated alarms after program correction
  • ·Machine coordinate system errors persist

Prevention

  • Always verify geometric constraints before using direct dimension programming
  • Use graphics simulation to validate complex geometry
  • Maintain consistent coordinate system setup procedures

Common Mistakes

  • Over-constraining arc geometry with multiple parameters
  • Mixing absolute and incremental programming incorrectly
  • Ignoring active coordinate system transformations during programming
