Okuma OSP Alarm C 3177 - MCS Servo data error

MCS Servo data error

Servo data sent from the NC during initialization or operation does not match the inverter unit, so the axis or spindle cannot run. This typically appears after an inverter unit was replaced with an incompatible servo data file, or after servo data was adjusted incorrectly.

Common Causes

  • Servo data file not compatible with the installed inverter unit
  • Inverter unit not compatible with the NC software version
  • Servo data wrongly changed during adjustment
  • Faulty inverter unit control board or NC software issue

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 (ZZ) = Data value is outside its allowable setting range; code 2 (ZZ) = Data was set at the wrong timing; code 3 (ZZ) = Data was never transmitted to the unit; code 4 (ZZ) = Calculation error in the data; code 5 (ZZ) = Other data error
  2. 2Note the code: XXXX is the data ID and YY the data set number of the offending data; ZZ tells the error type (1 out of range, 2 wrong timing, 3 no transmission, 4 calculation error, 5 other).
  3. 3If the alarm started right after an inverter unit was changed, the servo data file does not match the new unit — reload the correct servo data file for that inverter.
  4. 4If it started after servo data was adjusted or rewritten, restore the previous (backup) servo data; the changed values are wrong.
  5. 5If nothing was recently changed, verify the inverter unit is compatible with the installed NC software version.
  6. 6If the error persists with correct data and compatible hardware, suspect the inverter unit control board; record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
