Okuma OSP Alarm C 3195 - MCS Tandem control communication error

MCS Tandem control communication error

In tandem control of a synchronism axis, the communication data that the slave axis received in the inter-station communication was in error. The master/slave link between the tandem drives is not passing valid data.

Common Causes

  • MCS unit hardware fault on the master or slave station
  • MCS software problem corrupting the tandem communication data
  • Communication cable or connector problem between the tandem stations

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code XXXX=1 = Communication data not counted; YYYY is always 0; code XXXX=2 = Format code of communication data cannot correspond; YYYY is the low-order byte of the code
  2. 2Note the axis (main spindle) or none shown in the object field, then read the code: XXXX=1 means the communication data is not counted (YYYY always 0); XXXX=2 means the format code of the communication data cannot correspond, and YYYY is the low-order byte of that code.
  3. 3Power down and reseat the communication connectors between the master and slave MCS units of the tandem axis.
  4. 4Inspect the communication cable for damage or poor shielding that could corrupt the data format.
  5. 5Power up and command slow synchronized motion to see if the error returns.
  6. 6If the error persists, the probable faulty locations are the MCS unit or MCS software; record the code and contact Okuma service.
