Okuma OSP Alarm C 3199 - MCS Axis stop signal error

MCS Axis stop signal error

The control detected a fault in the PSRDY (power supply ready) signal fed into the MIV inverter unit, so the axis or spindle shown as the object can no longer be trusted to hold position and is stopped. This points to a break or fault in the ready/stop signal chain between the power supply unit, the MIV unit, and the stroke-end limit circuit.

Common Causes

  • Failed stroke-end limit switch on the affected axis or a damaged signal wire to it
  • Damaged OPR line from the power supply unit or a loose/corroded connector on it
  • Damaged converter link cable to the MIV unit or poor connector contact
  • Faulty FUB-DR3 board or POS unit

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = PSRDY signal input to the MIV unit malfunctioned
  2. 2Note the axis name shown as the object (or none = spindle) and inspect that axis's stroke-end limit switch: check for physical damage, coolant ingress, and a chafed or pinched signal cable along the axis run.
  3. 3Lock out the machine power, then reseat and inspect the OPR line connectors at the power supply unit for bent pins, corrosion, or backed-out terminals.
  4. 4With power still off, check the converter link cable between the power supply unit and the MIV unit; reseat both ends and look for crushed or abraded sections.
  5. 5Restore power and see if the alarm clears; if it returns, swap or test the FUB-DR3 board and POS unit as the next suspects.
  6. 6If the alarm persists after these checks, record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
