Okuma OSP Alarm C 3175 - MCS Servo link disconnection

MCS Servo link disconnection

The control detected a break in the MCS servo link, so the servo unit for the indicated axis (or spindle) can no longer receive commands from the NC. This is a hardware communication fault in the fiber/cable chain between the NC and the inverter units.

Common Causes

  • Loose, damaged, or contaminated servo link cable or connector
  • Failed inverter unit control board
  • Failed FCP board
  • Cable disconnected during maintenance or vibration loosening

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 0 (XXXX) = Link disconnected immediately in front of the problem unit; code 8000 (XXXX) = Link disconnected somewhere before the problem unit; code YYYY = Servo link error status at the moment the error was detected
  2. 2Read the code on screen: XXXX=0 means the link broke right in front of the problem unit, XXXX=8000 means it broke somewhere before that unit, so start checking at the unit indicated by the object axis name.
  3. 3With power locked out, reseat and inspect the servo link cables and connectors at the problem unit and the unit upstream of it; look for bent pins, contamination, or a cable pulled from its latch.
  4. 4Check the link status LEDs along the chain to find the last unit still communicating; the break is between that unit and the next.
  5. 5Swap or substitute the suspect servo link cable with a known-good one before condemning boards.
  6. 6If cabling checks out, suspect the inverter unit control board, then the FCP board; record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service before replacing boards.
