3161

Okuma OSP Alarm C 3161 - MCS Inverter capacity differs from spec.

MCS Inverter capacity differs from spec.

The inverter unit installed for the named axis (or spindle) has a smaller allowable current than the current limit set in the servo data file. The control refuses to run because the hardware and the servo data do not match.

Common Causes

  • Wrong capacity inverter unit installed (e.g. after a unit swap with a smaller model)
  • Servo data file loaded for a larger motor/inverter combination than the installed hardware
  • Incorrect or corrupted servo data file

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Inverter allowable current is smaller than the current limit in the servo data file (fixed code)
  2. 2Note the object to identify which axis (or spindle) has the mismatch; the code is fixed at 1.
  3. 3Check the inverter unit's model/capacity marking against the specification for that axis on this machine.
  4. 4If the inverter was recently replaced, verify the correct capacity unit was fitted; a smaller-capacity unit will trigger this alarm.
  5. 5Verify the servo data file loaded in the control matches the installed inverter and motor combination; reload the correct servo data file for the machine if it does not.
  6. 6If the hardware and servo data appear correct but the alarm remains, record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
