Okuma OSP Alarm B 2780 - Axis lube pressure ON confirmation

Axis lube pressure ON confirmation

After the axis lubrication pump motor switched on, the lube pressure switch did not turn on within the allowed time (twice the motor ON time). This means lubricant pressure is not building in the X/Z axis (or cross rail, index WCR) lube circuit, so the slideways may be running without oil.

Common Causes

  • Failed lubrication pump motor not generating pressure
  • Defective lube pressure switch not detecting pressure that is present
  • Broken, kinked or leaking lubrication piping preventing pressure build-up
  • Empty or low lube oil reservoir starving the pump

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Note the index: no index means the X/Z-axis lube circuit; 'WCR' means the cross rail circuit, and check that circuit.
  2. 2Check the lube oil reservoir level and top up if low, then run the pump and watch whether pressure builds.
  3. 3Listen for the lubrication pump motor running when commanded; if it does not run, check its wiring and the motor itself.
  4. 4Inspect the lube piping along the affected axis for breaks, kinks, loose fittings or leaks that would prevent pressure rise.
  5. 5If the pump runs and piping is sound, test the pressure switch operation and replace it if it fails to close when pressure is present.
  6. 6If the alarm persists after these checks, record the alarm number and index and contact Okuma service.
