Okuma OSP Alarm B 2779 - Axis lube motor overload

Axis lube motor overload

The overload relay protecting the axis lubrication pump motor has tripped, so the lubrication system for the X/Z axes (or the cross rail on WCR machines) is not running. Continued axis motion without lubrication risks guideway damage.

Common Causes

  • Tripped overload relay on the lubrication motor circuit
  • Defective lubrication motor drawing excess current
  • Lubrication pump binding or line blockage overloading the motor

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Check the index shown with the alarm: no index means the X/Z-axis lubrication motor; 'WCR' means the cross rail lubrication motor.
  2. 2Isolate power and observe lockout before working in the electrical cabinet, then locate the lubrication motor overload relay and reset the tripped relay as the manual directs.
  3. 3After reset, run the lube pump and confirm it delivers oil; if the relay trips again quickly, the motor or pump is overloading.
  4. 4Check for a binding pump, blocked lube lines or metering units that would stall the motor, and clear or repair as needed.
  5. 5If the relay trips repeatedly with a clear lube circuit, replace the defective lubrication motor; if the alarm still returns, record the alarm number and index and contact Okuma service.
