Okuma OSP Alarm B 2894 - Spindle lubricant controller error

Spindle lubricant controller error

The spindle lubrication system is not confirming healthy operation. Either the lubricant controller's alarm/OK signal (input I.025C) stayed off for more than one second, or the oil flow confirmation input stayed off, meaning the spindle may be running without verified lubrication.

Common Causes

  • Low spindle lubricant oil level in the reservoir
  • Lubricant pump or controller unit failure
  • Clogged oil line, filter or metering unit blocking flow
  • Faulty flow switch or wiring to input I.025C / flow input

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Spindle lubricant controller alarm signal (I.025C) stayed OFF for one second or longer; code 2 = Spindle lubricant oil flow input signal stayed OFF
  2. 2Read the code: 1 = controller alarm signal I.025C off for 1 second or more; 2 = oil flow input signal off.
  3. 3Check the spindle lubricant reservoir level and top up with the specified oil if low.
  4. 4Observe the lubricant unit during a lube cycle: confirm the pump runs and the controller's alarm output is not active; check its own indicator for the cause (level, pressure).
  5. 5For code 2, verify oil actually flows: inspect the lines, filter and metering injectors for blockage or kinks, and confirm the flow switch actuates.
  6. 6Check the wiring and connectors for input I.025C and the flow input back to the I/O rack; look for loose terminals or coolant-damaged cable.
  7. 7If the controller unit itself is faulty after these checks, replace the lubricant controller; if the alarm returns, record the code and contact Okuma service.
