Okuma OSP Alarm B 2749 - Hydraulic oil level lower limit

Hydraulic oil level lower limit

The hydraulic unit reported its oil level at or below a monitored limit. The control watches level switch signals and raises this alarm when a level signal is kept off longer than its debounce time, or the lowest level is detected.

Common Causes

  • Hydraulic oil genuinely low from leaks or consumption
  • Faulty or sticking oil level float switch
  • Wiring problem between the level switch and the NC input

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Hydraulic oil level signal kept off for a second or longer; code 2 = Hydraulic oil level signal kept off for 3 seconds or longer; code 3 = Hydraulic oil level lowest detected; code 4 = 2nd hydraulic oil level signal kept off for 3 seconds or longer
  2. 2Read the code: 1 means the hydraulic oil level signal kept off for a second or longer, 2 means it kept off for 3 seconds or longer, 3 means the hydraulic oil level lowest is detected, 4 means the 2nd hydraulic oil level signal kept off for 3 seconds or longer.
  3. 3Check the sight glass on the hydraulic unit and top up with the specified hydraulic oil if the level is visibly low.
  4. 4Inspect for leaks at the chuck actuator, turret hydraulics, tailstock lines, and under the machine while topping up.
  5. 5If the level is normal, test the float switch by moving the float and watching the input on the I/O check screen; replace a switch that does not change state.
  6. 6If the switch works, trace its cable to the NC input for a loose connector or chafed wire that kept the signal off longer than the debounce time.
