Okuma OSP Alarm A 1345 - Unable to move to tool change position

Unable to move to tool change position

The control rejected a G21 move-to-tool-change-position command (also issued inside ATC macros G171 and M321) because the preconditions were not met. Either the current position or the tool change position set in the system parameter lies outside movable range limit 1, the turret is not indexed to the ATC position required by the HP= value, or the shutter is not open.

Common Causes

  • Tool change position data or working range limit 1 setting is wrong, or G21 HP=* was issued after changing only one of the two so they no longer agree
  • Turret station holding the tool type matching the HP= value (L-tool for HP=1, facing tool for HP=2, side machining tool for HP=3; M-tool station on MacTurn) is not indexed to the ATC position
  • G21 HP=* issued with the shutter still closed
  • With HP=4/5, the target position is outside the stroke end limit

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Current position or the G21 HP=1/2/3 target position set on the system parameter is outside movable range limit 1, or the turret is not indexed to the ATC position required for that HP value; code 3 = G21 was commanded while the shutter was still closed; code 5 = With G21 HP=4/5, the current position or the target position set on the system parameter is outside movable range limit 1 / stroke end limit
  2. 2Read the code shown with the alarm and branch on it.
  3. 3Code 1: verify the turret is indexed to the ATC position for the HP= value used (HP=1: T2-T4/T6-T8 on LB15II/LB35II-MATC-Y, T2 on LU45, T1 on MacTurn; HP=2: T5 on LB15II/LB35II, T3 on LU45/MacTurn; HP=3: T1 on LB15II/LB35II-M). Index the correct station to the ATC position, then re-issue G21.
  4. 4Code 1 or 5: check that both the tool change position data and working range limit 1 setting data place the target inside the movable range; if you changed one, correct the other to match before commanding G21 again.
  5. 5Code 3: issue the shutter open command first, then re-issue the G21 HP=* command.
  6. 6Code 5: confirm the HP=4/5 target position set on the system parameter lies within the stroke end limit and adjust the setting data if it does not.
  7. 7If the alarm persists after these checks, record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
