Okuma OSP Alarm A 1323 - Illegal YS-axis position

Illegal YS-axis position

An axis movement command was executed while the YS axis was not at the spindle-center (turning) position stored in the system parameter, even though the machine was not in Y-axis mode. On machines with the YS-axis carriage-return positioning specification, it also means a move was commanded while the YS axis was away from its carriage-return position.

Common Causes

  • The system parameter data specifying the YS-axis spindle center position was changed
  • After NC software installation, an axis move was attempted before the YS-axis spindle center position parameter was set
  • With the carriage-return positioning spec, the YS-axis return position was changed and a move was then commanded while the YS axis was not at that return position

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Do not command further axis moves until the YS axis is back at a valid position; the control is blocking motion because the YS axis is off its defined turning/center position.
  2. 2If the YS-axis spindle center position parameter was changed, restore the original parameter data; alternatively execute G138 (Y-axis mode ON) then G136 (Y-axis mode OFF) to bring the YS axis to the newly set spindle center position.
  3. 3If the machine has the home position function and an ATC unit, command G21 HP=4,5 to return the saddle to the return point, then re-issue the axis movement command.
  4. 4If the alarm appeared right after NC software was installed, set the system parameter data for the YS-axis spindle center position before moving any axis.
  5. 5On the carriage-return positioning specification, perform Y-axis mode ON/OFF to re-establish position, or modify the YS-axis carriage-return position so the current YS-axis position becomes the return position.
