Okuma OSP Alarm A 1307 - No contact with sensor

No contact with sensor

During a G30 work gauging cycle, the touch sensor traveled from the approach point to the imaginary target point without ever contacting the workpiece surface, or the wrong turret's sensor made contact instead. The control therefore has no valid skip position to calculate the measurement. This is almost always a programming or setup issue rather than a hardware failure.

Common Causes

  • Programmed target point does not match the actual workpiece position (workpiece missing, undersized, or shifted)
  • Sensor on the other turret touched during the gauging move (code 1)
  • Sensor state wait time in the G30 command set too short (code 2)
  • Skip signal from the sensor not reaching the NC (codes 10000/20000)

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = During G30 execution, the sensor on the other (non-gauging) turret made contact; code 2 = The sensor-state wait time specified in the G30 command expired; code 10 = During a diagonal-direction G30, the sensor never contacted the workpiece; code 10000 = The sensor touched, but the NC did not receive the skip data (abnormal condition); code 20000 = The NC did not receive skip data for the X-axis or Z-axis (abnormal condition)
  2. 2Read the code on the alarm screen. Code 1: the other turret's sensor touched — check turret positioning and which turret the gauging cycle was commanded on. Code 2: the sensor-state wait time in the G30 command expired — review the wait-time setting in the G30 block. Code 10: no contact during a diagonal-direction G30 — check both axis target coordinates.
  3. 3Verify the programmed target point against the actual workpiece: confirm the workpiece is loaded, correctly seated in the chuck or fixture, and that the target coordinates in the G30 cycle match its real position.
  4. 4Manually jog the sensor toward the workpiece surface and confirm the sensor actually triggers (skip signal) when it touches; a sensor that never fires indicates a sensor or signal problem, not a program problem.
  5. 5For codes 10000 or 20000 (sensor touched but the NC received no skip data, or X/Z skip data missing), check the sensor signal wiring and skip-signal input to the NC rather than the program.
  6. 6Correct the target point or setup and rerun the gauging cycle; if the alarm persists with a confirmed-good target and a firing sensor, record the code and contact Okuma service.
