Okuma OSP Alarm A 1265 - Parts catcher interlock

Parts catcher interlock

A parts catcher advance, retract, swing, or guide-axis command was issued while one of its interlock conditions was not met, or an axis/spindle command was issued while the parts catcher was in an interfering position. The control blocked the motion to prevent the catcher colliding with axes, spindle, door, or touch setter.

Common Causes

  • Z-axis (or ZB/XB/W-axis on sub-spindle/2-saddle models) not at the required positive end limit or workpiece chuting position when the catcher was commanded
  • Door not closed when the parts catcher advance/retract command was issued
  • Touch setter not at retract end when the catcher was commanded
  • Main or sub spindle rotating while the catcher was advanced, or catcher not at retract end when spindle rotation was commanded
  • Parts catcher limit switch failure detection: operation completed before the advance/retract timer expired (code 45)

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 0 = Advance commanded with Z-axis not at positive end limit, or axis move commanded with catcher advanced; code 1 = Advance commanded with the door not closed; code 2 = Advance/retract commanded with touch setter not at retract end; code 3 = Advance/retract commanded with the door not closed; code 4 = ZB-axis not at positive end limit, or ZB moved while catcher not at retract end; code 5 = Retract commanded while catcher not at swing-up end or while going down; code 6 = Swing up/down commanded while catcher not at advance end or while retracting; code 7 = Move to receive/retract position commanded while not at advance end or while going up
  2. 2Read the code and satisfy the stated condition: Code 0 - move Z-axis to the positive end limit before advancing the catcher, and do not command axis moves while it is advanced; Code 1/3/25 - close the door first; Code 2/36/42 - retract the touch setter to its retract end.
  3. 3Codes 4/21/22/23/26/27/30-35/40/41/43/44 - position the ZB, XB, W, Za, Zb or Zc axis within the permitted range (positive end limit, chuting position, or operation-enabled range) before commanding the catcher, and keep the catcher at retract end while those axes move.
  4. 4Codes 5-11 - command the catcher motions in the correct sequence: swing up/down only at the advance end, retract only at the swing-up end, arm/guide moves only at the correct swing end positions.
  5. 5Codes 13/15/24 - stop the main (or sub) spindle before advancing/retracting or raising/lowering the catcher, and never start spindle rotation while the catcher is advanced.
  6. 6Codes 16/17/18 - confirm the shot work confirmation input is ON in automatic operation before door open/close or catcher rise commands; Code 45 - the catcher advance/retract finished before the operation timer, indicating a limit switch failure detection issue; inspect the catcher advance/retract limit switches and their wiring.
  7. 7If it returns after these checks, record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
