Okuma OSP Alarm A 1260 - Tow-along tailstock command not possible
A tailstock connect/disconnect command (M188/M189) or tow-along mode command (G152/G153) was issued while the required machine conditions were not met, such as the spindle still turning, center work not selected, or the tailstock/turrets not at their required positions. This is an operation or programming error, not a hardware fault.

Okuma OSP Alarm A 1260 - Tow-along tailstock command not possible
Tow-along tailstock command not possible
A tailstock connect/disconnect command (M188/M189) or tow-along mode command (G152/G153) was issued while the required machine conditions were not met, such as the spindle still turning, center work not selected, or the tailstock/turrets not at their required positions. This is an operation or programming error, not a hardware fault.
Common Causes
M188/M189/G152 commanded while the spindle is rotating or a rotation command is active
Center work mode not selected before the tailstock command
Tailstock spindle not at retract end or turrets not at + stroke end
Tailstock chuck clamp/unclamp state conflicting with the connect/disconnect signals
Troubleshooting Steps
1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = M188/M189/G153 given while spindle not at zero speed; code 2 = M188/M189/G153 given while spindle not at a standstill; code 3 = M188/M189/G152 given while a spindle rotation command is active; code 4 = Command given while center work is not selected; code 5 = Tailstock spindle not at retraction end; code 6 = Turrets not at positive stroke end; code 7 = Connect and disconnect confirmation signals both ON or both OFF; code 8 = Connect ON key pressed with spindle not at standstill
2Read the code on screen and correct the matching condition: Code 1/2/3 - stop the spindle (M5) and confirm zero speed before M188/M189/G152; Code 4 - select center work mode first.
3Code 5 - retract the tailstock spindle fully to its retraction end; Code 6 - send the turrets to the positive stroke end before the command.
4Code 7 - check the tailstock connect and disconnect confirmation signals; they must not be both ON or both OFF, so inspect those limit switches/proximity switches.
5Code 8-11 (connect ON key pressed) - ensure spindle at standstill, XA-axis at + travel end, tailstock at retract end, and tailstock unclamped before pressing connect.
6Code 12-14 - verify the tailstock chuck clamp/unclamp state and the disconnection confirmation signal agree with the commanded operation; do not issue a chuck clamp while the disconnect confirmation is OFF.
7Code 15-18 - for NC tailstock, only command G02/G03/G30-G35 or non-W/Z axis moves with the tailstock clamped; W-axis moves require XA at + limit, tailstock spindle retracted, tailstock unclamped, and main spindle stopped.
