Okuma OSP Alarm A 1258 - Axis moved to tailstock barrier area

Axis moved to tailstock barrier area

An axis entered the tailstock barrier area, the interference check zone set up to prevent the turret or tool from colliding with the tailstock. The code shows which interference check area was violated.

Common Causes

  • Program includes a command that moves an axis into the tailstock barrier area
  • Tailstock barrier area setting error (zone set incorrectly)
  • Tailstock positioned differently than the program assumes

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code value = Interference check area that was entered.
  2. 2Read the code on the screen to identify which interference check area was entered, and note the axis position at the alarm.
  3. 3Check the program block that was executing and find the axis move that would bring the tool or turret into the tailstock barrier zone.
  4. 4Verify the tailstock barrier area setting: if the zone boundaries are set incorrectly for the current tailstock position, correct the barrier area setting.
  5. 5Correct the program path so the axis stays clear of the tailstock barrier, or reposition the tailstock and update the barrier setting to match, then rerun the section in single block to confirm clearance.
