Okuma OSP Alarm A 1257 - Axis moved to chuck barrier area

Axis moved to chuck barrier area

An axis was commanded into the chuck barrier area, the interference check area defined around the chuck to prevent the turret or tool from striking it. The control stopped the motion at the barrier.

Common Causes

  • Program includes a command which causes an axis to enter the chuck barrier area
  • Setting error of the chuck barrier area for the current chuck size or jaw position

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code interference check area = Identifies which interference check area was entered
  2. 2The program includes a command that causes an axis to enter the chuck barrier interference area; identify the program block that was executing when the alarm occurred.
  3. 3Correct the program command so the tool path stays clear of the chuck barrier area, especially approach and retract moves near the chuck.
  4. 4Verify the chuck barrier area setting matches the actual chuck and jaw configuration on the machine; re-set the barrier if jaws were changed.
  5. 5Rerun the corrected section in single block with the door open (setup mode) and watch the approach to confirm clearance.
