Okuma OSP Alarm A 1243 - Turret rotation conditions
A turret index (T-command) was issued while one of the machine's turret rotation interlock conditions was not satisfied. The control blocked indexing to prevent a collision between the turret/tools and the touch setter, tailstock, Y-axis, laser sensor, shutter, or spindle.

Okuma OSP Alarm A 1243 - Turret rotation conditions
Turret rotation conditions
A turret index (T-command) was issued while one of the machine's turret rotation interlock conditions was not satisfied. The control blocked indexing to prevent a collision between the turret/tools and the touch setter, tailstock, Y-axis, laser sensor, shutter, or spindle.
Common Causes
Facing/OD tool clamp confirmation proximity switch OFF, its wiring damaged, or the clamp hydraulic solenoid valve faulty (code 1)
Touch setter still at advance position when the T-command was issued (code 2)
YS-axis below spindle center, or Z-axis beyond the interference position, when indexing was commanded (codes 3, 4, 8)
Laser sensor not retracted or its retract confirmation LS faulty (code 12)
Long/special tool mounted with shutter closed or rotation interlock active, or spindle still rotating (codes 13-16)
Troubleshooting Steps
1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Turret index commanded while the facing/OD tool clamp confirmation signal was OFF; code 2 = T-command issued while the touch setter is at advance position; code 3 = On FTL machines, Z-axis is beyond the interference position in the negative direction; code 4 = On Y-axis machines, index commanded with YS-axis below spindle center; code 5 = On NC turret machines, the simple tow-along tailstock is connected; code 8 = YS-axis below the spindle center position set in the system parameter (machine coordinates); code 12 = Laser sensor retract confirmation input OFF when indexing was commanded; code 13 = Non-divisible index commanded with a long tool (ML) in T1 or touch sensor mounted
2Read the code on screen and branch: Code 1 - check that the facing/OD tool is clamped and the clamp confirmation proximity switch turns ON; Code 2 - retract the touch setter before the T-command; Code 3 - move the Z-axis back inside the interference position on FTL machines; Code 4/8 - raise the YS-axis above spindle center before indexing.
3Code 12 - confirm the laser sensor is fully retracted and its retract confirmation input is ON; if the sensor is retracted but the input stays OFF, check the retract confirmation limit switch.
4Codes 13/14/15 - with a long tool (ML type) in turret T1 or a special long tool mounted, open the shutter and observe the special-long-tool rotation interlock before indexing.
5Code 16 - stop spindle rotation before commanding turret indexing.
6For code 1, if the tool is physically clamped but the alarm persists, check the clamp confirmation proximity switch, its signal wire, and the hydraulic solenoid valve for the face/OD tool clamp, in that order.
7If it returns after these checks, record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
