Okuma OSP Alarm A 1161 - MCS Inverter capacity differs from spec.

MCS Inverter capacity differs from spec.

The control found that the inverter unit's allowable current is lower than the current limit written in the servo data file for the named axis or spindle. In other words, the drive hardware fitted is undersized (or the wrong data file is loaded) for what the NC is asking it to deliver.

Common Causes

  • Inverter unit replaced with one of a smaller current rating than the original
  • Servo data file for a larger-capacity inverter loaded against a smaller unit
  • Wrong servo data file selected after a software or axis configuration change

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Fixed code; the inverter allowable current is below the servo data file current limit.
  2. 2Note the axis or spindle named in the [Object] field to identify which inverter is mismatched.
  3. 3Check whether the inverter unit was recently replaced; if so, verify its capacity rating matches the original specification for that axis.
  4. 4If the hardware is correct, reload the correct servo data file for the fitted inverter unit.
  5. 5If the alarm appeared after a servo data change, restore the previous servo data file and confirm the alarm clears.
  6. 6If the mismatch cannot be resolved, record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
