KUKA Robot KRC0542 - Excessive volume

Excessive volume

The volume monitoring system has detected that excessive adhesive has been dispensed during the programmed application cycle. This alarm indicates the dispensed volume exceeds the maximum threshold set for quality assurance or cost optimization. The dispensing parameters must be adjusted to prevent material waste and maintain process specifications.

Common Causes

  • Dispenser pump pressure calibrated too high causing faster than intended material extrusion rate
  • Flow control valve not sealing properly allowing material to continue flowing after programmed cutoff time
  • Program timing miscalculation causing dispense cycle to run longer than intended duration
  • Material viscosity lower than expected due to temperature increase or supply lot variation
  • Flow meter or volume sensor malfunction providing false readings triggering premature excess alarm

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Reduce the dispenser pump pressure setting incrementally and perform test dispense cycles to measure output volume reduction
  2. 2Inspect the flow control valve and discharge check valve for debris, hardened material, or mechanical sticking preventing closure
  3. 3Review the robot program dispense cycle timing and reduce the duration or increase motion speed to minimize application per cycle
  4. 4Measure the adhesive material temperature and adjust heating system setpoint if material viscosity appears lower than specification
  5. 5Perform a volume sensor calibration routine through the dispenser control system to verify accurate flow measurement feedback
  6. 6Compare the dispensed material volume against the programmed target in the KRL cycle parameters and adjust dispense enable time variables accordingly
