KRC0333

KUKA Robot KRC0333 - STOP DUE TO SOFTWARE LIMIT SWITCH <motion direction> <axis number>

STOP DUE TO SOFTWARE LIMIT SWITCH <motion direction> <axis number>

This alarm indicates that a robot axis has attempted to move beyond its programmed software limit switch boundary in the specified direction. The KUKA KRC controller detected that a motion command would cause the axis to exceed its defined joint limit parameters and automatically stopped the movement to prevent mechanical overtravel and potential damage to the robot structure.

Common Causes

  • Incorrect axis limit values defined in the robot's axis configuration parameters
  • Programming error where motion command references an unreachable target position beyond software limits
  • Calibration drift or loss of encoder reference zero position causing incorrect axis position feedback
  • Corrupted or modified robot kinematics data affecting calculated joint target positions
  • External force or manual manipulation moving the axis beyond its soft limit threshold while monitoring is active

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify the programmed target position is within the valid workspace and axis joint limits defined in the robot's configuration
  2. 2Check the axis soft limit parameters in the KRC controller settings and confirm they match the mechanical range of motion for that specific axis
  3. 3Perform a robot calibration/teach-in procedure to re-establish accurate encoder zero positions and axis references
  4. 4Review the motion program logic to identify if conditional statements or variable calculations are generating out-of-range position commands
  5. 5Inspect mechanical stops and encoders for signs of damage or misalignment that could affect position feedback accuracy
  6. 6Reset the alarm using the KRC teach pendant, then move the affected axis slowly toward center position to confirm normal operation and recalibrate if necessary
