KUKA Robot KRC0289 - VGROOVE HAS WRONG PROFILE

VGROOVE HAS WRONG PROFILE

This alarm indicates that the mastering groove profile used for EGP (External Guided Programming) adjustment does not conform to the required V or U shaped geometry specification. The KRC controller detected an invalid groove profile during the EGP calibration or mastering process, which prevents proper encoder adjustment and motion synchronization.

Common Causes

  • Mastering groove has been worn, damaged, or deformed from its original V or U profile geometry
  • Incorrect groove profile was machined or installed that does not meet KUKA specification requirements
  • Contamination, debris, or buildup in the groove affecting the profile detection
  • Encoder sensor misalignment or improper positioning relative to the groove profile
  • Incorrect mastering groove selected or referenced in the KRC controller configuration

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Visually inspect the mastering groove profile to verify it maintains proper V or U shape geometry according to KUKA specifications and technical drawings
  2. 2Clean the mastering groove thoroughly to remove any debris, oil, or contamination that may be affecting profile detection
  3. 3Verify the encoder sensor is properly aligned and positioned at the correct distance from the groove profile as per installation manual
  4. 4Check the KRC controller configuration to confirm the correct mastering groove type and EGP settings are specified
  5. 5Measure the groove profile dimensions using calipers or profile gauge to confirm compliance with KUKA design specifications
  6. 6If groove is damaged or non-compliant, replace the mastering groove component and re-perform the EGP calibration procedure through the KRC teach pendant
