KUKA Robot KRC0288 - REFERENCE OFFSET NOT VALID

REFERENCE OFFSET NOT VALID

The reference offset value stored in system memory is invalid or not recognized in the current $ROBCOR.DAT configuration file, preventing the mastering process from completing. The axis cannot be mastered using the stored reference offset data.

Common Causes

  • Reference offset in $ROBCOR.DAT does not match physical encoder position on axis
  • $ROBCOR.DAT file corrupted or overwritten with incompatible configuration from different robot
  • Axis hardware replaced but reference offset not recalculated for new mechanical setup
  • KUKA robotic system updated to new KRC4 firmware version with incompatible offset format
  • Manual mastering previously performed on axis but offset value never properly saved to configuration

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify $ROBCOR.DAT file integrity by backing up current version and comparing with factory defaults
  2. 2Perform manual axis reference search on affected axis using KUKA smartPAD mastering function
  3. 3Confirm that physical reference mark on axis aligns with encoder zero position during search
  4. 4Recalculate and store new reference offset value in $ROBCOR.DAT following KUKA mastering procedure
  5. 5Check system logs in WorkVisual for encoder fault history that might indicate hardware degradation
  6. 6Replace $ROBCOR.DAT with backup from working system configuration if available, then re-validate all axes
