KRC0292

KUKA Robot KRC0292 - PERFORM INITIAL MASTERING <axis number>

PERFORM INITIAL MASTERING <axis number>

A sensor location search or fine-tuning operation was attempted on an axis that has not completed initial mastering calibration. The axis encoder reference position must be established before any sensor-based position searches can execute successfully.

Common Causes

  • System powered on after hardware replacement without running initial mastering sequence
  • Robot transported or shipped without proper backup of mastering data, requiring recalibration
  • Attempt to use TEACH or ADJUST function on axis with invalid or missing reference offset
  • Program calls SensorLocationSearch instruction before mastering initialization block executes
  • Axis 4, 5, or 6 encoder reset or replaced without subsequent mastering procedure completion

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Access KUKA smartPAD and navigate to Mastering menu, then select the indicated axis number
  2. 2Execute initial mastering procedure by moving axis through full range and confirming reference mark detection
  3. 3Wait for mastering status indicator to show successful completion before attempting sensor search
  4. 4Verify that $ROBCOR.DAT contains valid reference offset values for all axes post-mastering
  5. 5Power cycle robot controller to load updated mastering configuration into active memory
  6. 6Retry sensor location search or ADJUST function on specified axis after initial mastering confirmation
