KUKA Robot KRC0268 - APPROXIMATION NOT POSSIBLE

APPROXIMATION NOT POSSIBLE

The robot cannot perform approximation (smooth approach to waypoints) for the current motion segment due to computational limitations in the real-time control cycle. This alarm indicates insufficient processing time to calculate the transition trajectory within the KRC4 cycle time constraints.

Common Causes

  • Motion velocity or acceleration settings are too high for the complexity of the programmed path
  • Robot is executing simultaneous complex calculations while approximation is requested
  • Approximation distance combined with high path velocity exceeds real-time computation capacity
  • KRL program contains excessive conditional statements or sensor polling during motion execution
  • KRC4 controller processing load from multiple concurrent tasks exhausts available real-time bandwidth

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Reduce the approximation distance parameter in the motion command to simplify computational requirements
  2. 2Decrease the maximum velocity and acceleration values in the motion instruction and verify operationally acceptable
  3. 3Simplify the KRL program logic around the motion commands by removing unnecessary calculations during execution
  4. 4Check the KRC4 real-time task load using WorkVisual diagnostics to identify conflicting background processes
  5. 5Execute approximation commands separately from other intensive KRL operations, or remove approximation if not essential
  6. 6If performance improvement is insufficient, increase the cycle time in the KRC4 configuration or contact KUKA for controller optimization
